The 22nd edition of this carnival which takes place every fourth year will kick off on 20th November, 2022. The group phase matches will be played from 20 November to 2 December. The knockout phase will be from 3-18 December.
Host nation Qatar will be playing Ecuador in the inaugural game of FIFA World Cup 2022.
Total of 32 teams , divided in to 8 groups. 64 matches will be played and the ultimate winner will lift the World Cup Trophy. The final matches of each group will be played at the same time.

Top two teams from each group progress to the round of 16 / knock out matches.
This World Cup will witness lot of new stadiums which were built in the last 3-4 years , especially for the World Cup. The matches will be played across eight different stadiums spread across Qatar.
